Description
This spectacular 1940s beaded jacket is a show stopper! This one does not have padded shoulders but there's a fair amount of design ease/drape in the upper bodice Add some pads & this one could have the "strong shoulder" look in spades! The fabric is an inky black (photos have been lightened to show details) "Forstmann 100% Wool" & the jacket is fully lined in rayon satin with a matte floating squares pattern. It has soft roll triangular lapels that are cut in one with the jacket front, a moderate, nipped-in waistline, accented with three vintage black faceted plastic buttons (authentic vintage replacementsbut very similar to the originals) with dressmaker detailing in the bound buttonholes. The best detail is of course the three rows of horizontal black beading & multiple beaded tassels! The fitted back has princess seaming that ends in stitched down inverted box pleats that form a peplum. The jacket is tagged "THE GRAND, Milwaukee". The only issue is that there MAY be a missing tassel at each extreme sides of the bottom row of trim. The beaded circles remain. This may be intentional & not a flawit certainly does not call attention to itself! Very wearable in terrific condition. This jacket can be easily paired with other solid black pieces in your wardrobe.
