MOUNTAIN LAKE, near Newport, Giles County, Virginia. A rare natural lake in the Southern Appalachians, Mountain Lake rises & falls in a natural cycle, from 100 feet deep to totally dry. This lake is surrounded by some virgin forest & the beautiful patterns of the Appalachian ridges are evident in this map, revealed simply in hand-drawn topographic lines. Title in my "watercolor text." This is a PRINT of my original topographic line drawing, in grey green.
