"New Orleans Lace" Print 11 x 14 inches New Orleans Lace! These cast iron lace balconies are very prominent in the Crescent City! Ornate balconies, fences, gates, & railings, & balconies go back to the 17th & 18th centuries, & were built with wrought iron, making them very durable & sturdy! This Victorian addition to old masonry townhouses makes New Orleans one of the cornerstones of ornate & decorative architecture. This decorative ironwork is derived from Spanish architecture. DETAILS: This print measures 11 X 14 inches. It is signed at the bottom right. The date, title, & limited edition number are included on the front & back. Professionally printed on card stock paper. ABOUT THE ARTIST: Kristi Jones was named after Howard Chandler Christy, who was a 20th century illustrator & distant relative. Kristi is also related to Clyde Connell, one of Louisiana's most famous female artists. Kristi developed an innate artistic ability from being raised in an artistic home, which had an art studio & library. Both of her parents obtained art degrees. Her father has placed (numerous times) in the top tenth percentile in state & federal duck stamp art contests, & her mother has sold work at a local gallery. Kristi studied art at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts (NOAFA), & is also self-taught. She has created mosaics & sold her tropical jewelry at the annual Red River Revel, & many other local festivals. Presently, she has turned to painting, & has sold work both locally & nationally. She has exhibited at shows & galleries, including several group shows in northwest Caddo Parish, including Centenary College's Meadows Museum of Art & Centenary's Magale Library, Artspace, Smith Mason Gallery, & Shreveport Trading Company, Norsworthy Gallery/Bailey Gallery, & 318 Art & Garden (Shreveport) & Freedom Gallery (Vivian). in December 2011, Kristi was awarded a visual arts grant from the Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC), & became a Juried Roster Artist in 2012. in 2015, she was commissioned to create 29 paintings for the new University Medical Center of New Orleans. Most of her work depicts the flavors, architecture, landscapes & culture of Louisiana & the South. Her work is collected nationally & internationally, & by kings & queens! She is a member of Louisiana Artists, Inc. & the Hoover Watercolor Society.
