Sometimes collaborating with her numerous award winning husband Don Dewa, Zuni Pueblo artisan Velma Dewa is no beginner in the industry & has paid her dues for her impeccably made jewelry. Starting back in the 70's,she is known for her traditional mosaic-inlay-channel inlay work that is known to the Zuni Pueblo. The years Velma put in are clearly obvious, where there are NO flaws in these to be found! These are what I would call 'the perfectly made earring' & are the perfect example for why her jewelry sets her apart from the rest. Precise lapidary work is what it took to make these,where Velma cut the dark navy blue Lapis in rectangular shapes that then sit in between sterling bars. What I find impressive is, if you view them from the side, you'll find that the cuts all have the same height & have a smooth beveling. Being the sucker I am for impeccable workmanship, these are things I look for, because it tells me the artist's skill. I had no doubt I wouldn't see these qualities. These are very traditional in style & can be worn anytime, anywhere, day or night!! They are very wearable & light, while offering you a 'quality' southwestern look.
