About 60 years ago, Seiichi Katsuoka first came across some glass seed beads & instantly became fascinated by their brilliance & beauty, so in 1949, he dedicated himself to learning the art of glass seed bead making. Seiichi's passion for making beautiful, high quality glass seed beads was passed down to his son, Hiroshi. Hiroshi added innovation to passion & began creating new types & styles of beads. This resulted in the founding of Miyuki; Japan's first successful mass-producing bead manufacturing company. Miyuki beads are considered a "world standard" for their high quality, brilliance, & uniform shape. They are highly sought after by fashion designers, artists & bead fans alike. Seed beads or rocailles come in many finishes: transparent, opaque, silver lined, rainbow or AB coated, luster, metallic, Ceylon, Inside Color, gold luster, dyed, Duracoat, galvanized, special plating, Picasso, special coatings which use Miyuki beads & Czech colors. I have personally used Miyuki seed beads for over 10 years in my beadweaving & as a former brick & mortar bead shop owner I am always impressed with the range of finishes & colors, consistent shape & hole size & overall quality.
