Original water color featuring the historical World War II Home Front Museum in St Simons Island, GA, circa 1936. Originally a Coast Guard Station, this is the site where Coast Guard crews rescued survivors of two American ships that were torpedoed by a German U-boat just 13 miles off the coast. Liberty Ships, that defended the United States during WWII, were built in nearby Brunswick, GA . Many women, along with men not eligible to fight, worked long, dedicated hours to meet the Navy's need for the ships. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
