Description

Washington D.C.'s Navy Yard Car Barn was part of the city's first street car line. Designed in 1891, it's known for its castle-like corner architecture. Decades after streetcar service ended, the building was redeveloped for commercial use & painted blue. It was given the nickname "The Blue Castle". in 2014, National Community Church (NCC) purchased the property & renamed the property the Capital Turnaround. It now serves as a gathering place for NCC, a launch space for community service & a dynamic event venue. This illustration, by DMV artist Cris Clapp Logan, pays homage to building's Navy Yard Car Barn days. Created using watercolor, ink & pencil, the gicleé print is vibrant, archival & detailed. The print arrives flat & unframed. All proceeds for the sale of this print will support the DC Dream Center. The DC Dream Center is "a center for community where the needs of the people in our city, especially youth, are net. From mentoring & tutoring to personal development & legal assistance".
