Antigonon leptopus, commonly called coral vine, native to Mexico. It is a tuberous-rooted, tendril-climbing tropical vine that rapidly grows to 40' in its native habitat. It is grown as an annual or a perennial & can grow 8-10' in a single season. Flowers in axillary racemes feature pink to white sepals. Blooms late summer to fall. Coarse, wavy-edged, arrowhead-shaped green leaves (to 4" long). Numerous additional descriptive common names, including Mexican creeper, chain of love, love vine, pink vine, corallita & Queen's wreath. Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soils in full sun. Tolerates drought, but appreciates consistent moisture during the growing season. Evergreen in USDA Zones 9-11. Deciduous in Zone 8, but roots generally survive. Flowering vine for trellises, arbors or fences. Containers. Greenhouses. Hardy in zones 8-11. Growing Instructions for the Coral Vine 1. Prepare a mixture of half potting soil & half sand, perlite or vermiculite. Water the mixture so that it is moist but not wet. 2. Put the seeds on the soil. 3. Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil. 4. Water the seeds. 5. Place the pots in an area with warm temperatures in full sun or part shade. The seeds take 21-30 days to germinate. 6.
