It represented the symbol of King Louis XIV of France, the Sun King. On a side note, this was also Jackie's favorite historical era. Jackie thoroughly enjoyed her Sunburst Brooch & wore it constantly-on the shoulders of overcoats, on jackets, on dresses, & even in her hair. It fast became, along with her Waterfall Earrings, one of her signature pieces. It is easy to see why! The original Sunburst Brooch is currently owned by Jackie's daughter, Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg. She has been photographed wearing it many times over the years.
