From the web: Dutch Treat, a Wilton landmark, has been a family favorite since 1963, serving food & ice cream to locals & visitors alike. Manager Alison Welch is the daughter of the original founder, Sharon Rainey, whose father had the idea to build the A-frame windmill structure, inspired after buying a souvenir windmill lamp on a trip to the Netherlands in 1962. The seasonal restaurant is perched on a hill overlooking Routes 2 & 4, & is open from April until just after Labor Day. Dutch Treat is known for its handmade burgers, & also offers a full menu that includes lobster rolls, clams & scallops, as well as chicken, hot dogs & a variety of side orders. It also offers both hard & soft serve ice cream. They even have doggie ice cream, from which all proceeds about $1,000 a year are donated to the Franklin County Animal Shelter.
