Third & last state First state of three of this plate from the temple of Flora is a handsome grouping of carnations stands in the foreground, with mountains, a classical building to the right, & trees in the left background & a dramatic sky above. Second alterations; affected the appearance of the print & were made at an early stage of this plate, which is one of the finest of Thorntons productions. & it's final state, (see pictures) the background has been entirely removed & a bluish white wash substituted, while the temple on the right has been ran grieved.
