1913 Dance compact collectible Genuine shell Cameo Marathon Quality signed gold & silver gilded engine turned Guilloche fancy etched chain Wristlet For your consideration is this exquisite antique Marathon dance compact from 1913. This fine & elegant makeup compact collectible features a genuine carved shell cameo of the profile of a pretty, young woman with curly hair ringlets, a vertical engine-turned pin striping design, an etched individual link chain, a beveled glass mirror, an unusual & high-end shape, green gold & yellow gold plating, a rouge well complete with rouge , a face powder well ( also full), an original, fitted powder puff, & a single kiss clasp closure. It also has a luxurious yellow gold gilded etched design around the perimeter. It is imprinted "Marathon," below the glass mirror. I do not see any other hallmarks. Measures approximately 4" tall for the compact with another 4" for the chain=8" stretched out. This is in beautiful condition with minor surface scratching on the back. It is shiny & gorgeous as one turns it to see the intricate patterns of design that shimmer & shine in the metal! There are no dings or dents & it opens & closes properly.
