HISTORY According to the tradition the story of this jewellery starts back in 326 AD when St. Helena found the Holy Cross. The Constantinato is a coin jewellery which first made when St. Helena ordered to cut the Cross into two pieces. One part of the Cross left in Jerusalem while the holy sawdust of the other part mixed together with precious metals in order to create the coin. The jewellery depicts the Holy Cross between the Great Constantine & his mother St. Helena. The belief that Constantinato jewellery contains molecules of the Holy Cross made it a strong symbol in Byzantine Greek folk traditions. Pregnant women used to carry Constantinato coins both to protect their fetus & to ease childbirth.
