Description
This is a vintage 1882-1914, bisque/porcelain, "Royal Vienna Wettina ewer" made in Austria by Robert Hanke. It is stamped in red on the bottom with a crown & the Letter RH - Royal Wettina - made in Austria. It measures approximately 4.5 inches wide by 10.75 inches tall with a mouth opening of 1 inch in diameter. This footed beauty is ewer-shape with a spout & handle & features large, hand-painted, pink & white roses on a light-mottled background on the front with smaller hand-painted roses on the back. The top & footed base plus the handle are painted in a matte olive-green with red accents while the floral, middle section has a sheen. The light color against the darker trim seems to give the piece extra prominence. A lovely antique ewer in very, good condition with the exception of what looks like one manufacturing flaw on a lower-front leaf as seen in last photo.
