Description

I love the rich colors & soft but bold brushstrokes of this dreamy painting! The painting is oil paint (some of it thickly applied) covered in a light glossy varnish on a 10" by 8" wood panel. The painting is in good condition overall but it does have some noticeable flaws: dried bits of paint caught up in the surface, many speckles & spots of bare exposed wood panel throughout, superficial scrapes made in the drying paint, lower paint levels in color & texture that can be seen through the upper layers, a prominent wood grain texture that shows through the paint, dark gray speckles & superficial scratches of discoloration from friction, a slightly flattened appearance to some of the thicker areas of paint (where it looks like the canvas was pressed against another flat surface before the paint was fully dry), many tiny paint bubbles trapped in the thicker areas of paint, & errant paint speckles & blobs. The painting is signed "JB" in the lower right. The finish is mostly matte with areas that are glossy & satin from the varnish wearing thin. The carved wooden frame is covered in a metallic gold paint. The frame is in decent condition but it does read a bit as "shabby chic" because of its prominent wood grain pattern that shows through the paint, small dents & superficial scratches, little bits of dried paint or dust caught up in parts of the paint, prominent small staples at the outer corners, & extra wear at the outer corners. The frame increases the overall dimensions to 11 7/16" by 9 1/2". I tried to capture the painting in as many light conditions as possible so you can see how its appearance varies based on the lighting & surrounding decor. Make sure you eye the photos closely & are okay with the overall condition before purchasing. Note that because the finish has glossy patches, this painting shouldn't be placed just anywhere in your house because it optimally should be displayed where it doesn't strongly catch bright artificial or natural light (which will create an unpleasant glare), so be prepared to have flexibility with where you place it for maximum impact.
