Recognised for his paintings of fluorescent neon signs, acclaimed artist Jim Thalassoudis takes viewers on a journey through semi-nocturnal streets, clustered with vacant motels & fast-food outlets that beckon prospective visitors through intricate lighting displays. Thalassoudis' scenes pay homage to the artificial light that transforms our skylines when darkness descends, & we are reminded of American-Realist Edward Hopper's urban & rural depictions of modern American life. Combining photographic documentation & intricate artistry, Thalassoudis' fluorescent scenes of Australian cityscapes capture the fleeting space between dusk & dawn.
