Dating to the 1930s, this rare brooch features a three dimensional gilt brass roaring lion's head surrounded by green faceted cabochon stones. Substantial in size with impressive appearance. Lion has red prong set rhinestone eyes, gilt gold over brass & green glass faceted cabochons. One stone is a replacement, with smooth rounded surface, not noticeable at all. See pictures, third stone on right. Green stones are prong set with a mirror backed quality very much like Vauxhall glass. Amazing addition for the true jewelry collector! Clip brooch measures approximately 2 3/4 inches wide by 2 1/2 inches high. Signed Ben Meltzer Inc NY on the back on a rectangle plaque. Clip mechanism fits pin loosely however closes & functions properly. Good previously owned antique vintage condition with surface wear appropriate to age. Circa 1930s.
