Aster Tanacetifolia Prairie Aster. This is a showy annual that is just hands down happy looking. It's an easy to grow, low maintenance plant that blooms from mid to late summer. Being a native to the southwest, it thrives in desert areas with a hot dry climate. It has a fern-like foliage with long sprawling stems producing star-shaped bright blue & purple flowers with golden yellow centers. It heavily resembles a daisy, but is actually a member of the aster family.. Because of its height, it may need to be staked to prevent damage from falling over. The flowers are rich in nectar that attracts some desirable pollinators. Sparrows & finches are especially fond of the seeds, so harvest asap to prevent loss. When the blooming season is completed, cut down to the ground to prepare for next season. This particular flower has special purposes.
