Paul McCartney's Famous Guitars. Purchased in New York in mid 1964, this right-handed Epiphone Texan FT-79N went through some familiar changes when Paul had it re-strung & turned upside down. Paul played this famous acoustic while writing, recording in the studio & on live performances of Yesterday. Used in live performances & studio recordings for With The Beatles, Paul's 1961 Hofner 500/1 became known as the Cavern Bass & became his main instrument for two years until Hofner presented him with their new 1963 model. During their psychedelic period Paul used his Rickenbacker 4001S with this paint finish. It can be seen on the video of Hello, Goodbye & was also used on recordings of A Day in The Life, Lovely Rita, With A Little Help From My Friends, Lucy in The Sky With Diamonds & I Am The Walrus. First seen during Ready Steady Go! in October 1963, this Hofner 500/1 became Paul's main instrument & was known as The Beatle Bass. It's the bass with which he would be mostly recognised. Paul was the first Beatle to purchase an Epiphone Casino ES-230TD & has referred to it as his favourite electric. He used it extensively in the studio as a member of The Beatles, particularly on recordings of Ticket To Ride, Taxman & Drive My Car & through his solo career.
