Madonna & Child Art Print on Paper based on a Paper Lace Vintage Holy Card This exquisite Madonna & Child holy card is a late Victorian masterpiece of paper lace printing. Its intricacy invites you in & rewards your eye as you explore it. It is the perfect little print for the right nook or cranny, where the beautiful patterns will draw people towards it to find the images within. It's something special & unusual. Lace paper was a new technology in the late 1800s which they had quickly mastered & were able to elevate to stunning, highly-detailed expressions. Almost always the lace was an adornment for a colored lithograph in the middle of it, but for this masterpiece, they just used lace itself as the medium of the art. We don't know of anything else like it. The quality of the work is superb. You can even see the expressions on the faces of Jesus & Mary! This piece is attributed to the Bouasse-Lebel company of Paris, our favorite of the vintage holy card publishers. This product is NOT the lace, it is an art print of the lace. - 8.5 x 11" or 5x7" acid-free paper - Archival pigments, rated to last for generations. - Cardboard backer - Above story of the art - Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag. IMPORTANT There is white space around the picture, about .5" for 5x7" & 1.3" for 8.5x11", so the image is smaller than the paper. Thanks for your interest!
