Description
Opal & sapphire pendant. This pendant is a classic art nouveau peacock feather. I crafted the main element from sterling silver sheet & hand cast ingots of silver. Hand pressed into a steel die of an original art nouveau revival design. I crafted this using tons of pressure & repeated cycles of annealing & pressing then hand sawing. The patina is a liver of sulphur treatment for an antique look. The main element is 30 mm wide. It hangs 73 mm including the bail The blue star sapphire is 5 x 7 mm & 1.1 ct. I added a wonderful central stone made from a natural, solid Australian opal teardrop. This opal is 2.79 carat solid white opal with moderate flashes of red, green & blue. The stone is 11 mm x 22 mm in a hand crafted sterling setting. I obtain rough opal from miners in Australia & hand select & cut it myself. This opal is from the Coober Pedy region.
