Bay Colony Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this charming 19th century antique Pennsylvania 12 drawer pine spice chest. Spices have been used for culinary & medical purposes since the Paleolithic era & were a luxury good in 18th & 19th century homes. Spice chests are among the most collectible pieces of furniture & we are absolutely thrilled to offer this rare Pennsylvania example to our clients around the world. We're always looking for good spice chests but there aren't too many out there to be had. Earlier this year we purchased two with tombstone doors knowing we had a client for one & were excited to offer the other. Our plans quickly changed because when we sent our client the two to choose from he made us an offer for both. If you're looking for the next tier up please feel free to reach out to us & we can give you first access to our next find but it may be a while & the chests are usually about 10k depending on their form & importance. We try to have a good 6-12 spice boxes on hand at any time across all different styles. This spice box has 12 drawers & is made from pine. Each drawer is constructed with hand cut dovetails, hand chamfered panels, & has a brass knob for a pull. The chest has an attractive bracket base with Cupid's bow scrolling patterns on the sides. The chest is in fantastic condition & would make a fine addition to any period kitchen. The spice box measures 22 1/8" wide x 12" deep x 18 1/2" tall. The drawers have useable dimensions of 3 3/8" wide x 10 1/8" deep x 2 1/2" tall. 19Th Century Antique Pennsylvania Queen Anne 12 Drawer Spice Chest/Box
