Description

Vintage 1950's Mellorine ice cream tub from San Antonio, Texas. Mellorine is a low-cost imitation ice & alternative to custard, frozen yogurt, & sherbet made of non-milk ingredients other than butterfat. Vegetable, animal source, & added sweeteners are added freezing while stirring. It was introduced in the 1950's as a necessity after World War II instead of common ice cream but was not as creamy. Nowadays, although still around, you are unlikely to see Mellorine on the grocery shelves. The carton is in vintage condition with browning & wear to the cardboard & humidity spots due to age & use. It is amazing it has survived these many years. The colors & graphics are wonderful. This would make a great addition to a advertising collection or farmhouse kitchen display. Measurements: 6 1/2" tall x 5" diameter. props not in picture included Please, zoom in & view photos closely & read description carefully.
