If this item asks if you want to engrave back what that means is - do you want us to engrave something on the back such as a name or personal message. If you do select yes or back. If you want the back blank then select no. If you select yes MAKE SURE you tell us in the personalization box or notes at the checkout what you want us to engrave on the back. If you do not tell us we will not engrave anything on the back. These long rectangle stainless steel key chains are laser engraved which means the design will not rub away or fade. Made for years & years of use. The thick engraved stainless steel blank measures 1 7/8 x 5/8 inches. It is securely attached to a stainless steel round one inch key ring. The back of the key chain can be engraved with your own message, names and/or dates. There is not a character limit on text but keep in mind the more wording the smaller the font keep to just a couple shorter lines.
