Description

Bay Colony Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this fantastic early 20th century Chippendale antique style mahogany Pembroke table. We purchased this from a lovely couple who we sold a period example to & they were gracious enough to allow us to purchase their long loved table now that they have the period twin. The family was originally from Swampscott Massachusetts & told us they purchased this & another table from Israel Sack. We whole heartedly believed this was a period table & refused to believe otherwise until we got our hands on it & checked out the construction. This table was made in the early 20th century to the exact proportions & standards of the finest 18th century cabinet shops & was probably made around Boston based on how good the table is & how early in the 20th century it was made. The Sack family was instrumental to building the antique industry into what it is today & their publications are still the gold standard. We have multiple copies of their literature & our father knew the Sacks & we will attach a photo from Albert Sack's "Fine Points of Furniture" showing a near identical Pembroke table as a best example. Israel Sack was an outstanding buying agent & truly understood & cared for every nuance of fine American furniture. The table has a serpentine top with drop leaves & has a large single drawer with an etched brass pull. The table has a complex pierced stretcher & finely formed molded Marlboro legs. The table measures 20 1/2" wide x 29" long x 29" tall. When the leaves are locked up the table measures 38 1/2" wide x 29" long. 20Th Century Antique Chippendale Mahogany Drop Leaf Pembroke Table With Serpentine Top
