Description
This tiny vase looks like a precious object from a museum & has an air of mystery to it. Who are the bearded men whose heads serve as decorative handles of this miniature? Assyrians? Etruscans? Ancient Persians? We will probably never know. As it was often the case with the "Historicism" style, different nations & times were mixed together to create an exotic & fascinating piece. It was not very common to strive for historical accuracy. That said, my friends who work at a museum were seriously considering the possibility of this vase being an unknown Minoan piece. However, the WS&S mark (though very small & a bit blurry) gives away its age & creator. Or does it? :) Circa 5 cm x circa 4 cm, 5.8 cm tall. Some wear & chips (please see the pictures) but they just make it look older & more enigmatic.
