Description

This nice Hubley Penny Bank is identified & rated in "The Penny Bank Book" by Andy & Susan Moore. It is number 417 on pg. 81 of their book published in 2008. in 2008 they place the value of this little bank between $80 & $150. Hubley produced this bank between 1914 & 1946. Based on the aged patina of the paint I would date this bank to the 1920's. It retains approx. 90% of its original paint. There is a buildup of normal soiling & chipping of the paint that is appropriate for its age & use. Please carefully review photos for full perspective. John Hubley founded Hubley Toys in 1894, in 1914 the company partnered with Grace Drayton to create wide eyed characters such as Fido, Puppo & Cutie. These characters were widely popular, & production continued into the 1940's. This piece stands 5 inches tall, is approx. 3 3/16 inches wide & approx. 3 7/8 front to back. It would be a wonderful addition to any still bank collection. As always, thank you for stopping by the shop & for your interest in this piece. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you might have. Hubley, "Fido", Cast Iron Penny Bank, Circa 1920-1930
