Size (approx.):3.5 in x 5.5 in Condition: See images, white frame card was posted in 1946 at Harrisburg, PA Pennsylvania From the web: The first Clarks Ferry Bridge - which opened in 1828-29 - over the Susquehanna River in Reed Twp., Dauphin County, was a covered bridge made from more than 1 million board feet of white pine lumber. It was 2,088 feet long, divided into 10 spans, nine of which were 212 feet long & one 180 feet long. in 1888, it had the reputation of being the longest covered wooden bridge in the world. Over the years the bridge suffered damage from floods & fire. It was almost completely destroyed by a fire on May 14, 1846, but it was rebuilt.
