Made to the exact 1948 standard used by the state of Colorado until the 1970s when green highway signs with white text took over. This sign was posted at the top of the pass on US highway 50, at 11,312 feet elevation, alongside a second guide sign with the words "Continental Divide" & the elevation. (please see my other listings for the companion sign!) This sign is flat printed on 14-gauge steel, with completely accurate layout & fonts. The original continental divide signs came in less wieldy 36x45 size, so we also have a selection of precisely rescaled options. The sign is available in the following sizes for your convenience: 9 3/5 x 12, 16 x 20, 24 x 30, 32 x 40, or the original 36 x 45 inches size. If you'd like a different size or destination, please ask, as we are always putting together custom designs! The 36x45 inch sign is made on two panels, & will be shipped as two 36 by 22 1/2 inch halves, with mounting holes along the edges to accommodate a frame for stability. This frame manufacture, assembly & mounting process will be left up to the buyer. (If you would like an even bigger sign made of even more panels, let's talk!) This is a high quality, heavy steel, non-reflective sign perfect for indoor or outdoor display, with great gloss to replicate the old-school porcelain look. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close!
