Not many people today want to clean & polish silver or silver plate, nevertheless I think it is beautiful & adds a nice touch of old world elegance around any home, & pieces like this can so easily be re-purposed to corral all sorts of things. One could almost imagine the servants of Downton Abbey using a piece like this, & perhaps Carson would drop keys or the mail or notes into a shallow bowl like this. This round dish or shallow bowl was made by the Wallace Silversmiths Company, & it's very hard to date a piece like this because of its neoclassical style. The dish has small dings & smudges & light scratches & uneven tarnish. It's not perfect which to my eye makes it all the more appealing & I think it's beautiful as it is. The dish measures about 9 1/2" in diameter & the rim is raised 1 3/4" high. Hallmarked on the bottom as the photos show. It weighs a little over 11 ounces. in fair to good condition.
