A cut & polished PAIR of rare black ammonite halves. They are of the genus Cleoniceras. Whilst a vast number of ammonites are commercially mined in Madagascar only a tiny fraction (less than 1%) have this black colouration. Batches of them only appear every few years at best with the first appearing around 20 years ago. It is from Ambatolafia, Mahajanga Province, Madagascar.
