Description

A small MINIATURE oil on canvas board painting of an industrial landscape with smoke stacks, a river, trees, flying birds, & mountains in the background. This was found in Chattanooga, Tennessee which is on the Tennessee River. The Sequoyah Nuclear Plant is located on the TN River & about 20 miles from the city. It was not functional until 1981, however. This little painting looks a little older than that. I don't know its exact age but I would guess more 1960s. Chattanooga had a heavy industrial base & in 1969 was voted the most polluted city in the U.S. - a problem that was compounded by the city's mountainous topography. Fortunately, the pollution has been addressed. I love the little wood frame - gold on the outside edges with a ridged wood inset. The wiring on the back looks old. The frame measures 4 inches high x 5.75 inches wide x 1/2 inch deep. The painting itself measures 3" high x 4.75" wide. The painting appears to be unsigned. It looks like the back was covered with brown paper but most of it has been removed.
