Description
This figurine of a swan was created in Murano. We presume it to have been made by G. Campanella. It was produced using black glass with expanded silver leaf cased in crystal. It was sculpted after it was cased. We determined the maker by finding other similar labeled figurines. The appearance of how the silver foil was expanded over the black seems to be a décor particular to Campanella even though the general technique is & was widely used on the island. We do not know when it was made but a good guess would be the 1970s-90s. Even though it does not bear a label or signature, aside from the foil appearance & the form, we were able to also match the construction technique in which the tool marks remain at the ends of the pulls. The swan stands 5-3/4" (14.6 cm) tall & measures 3" (7.6 cm) long. The piece is in excellent condition without chips, flea bites, scratches, or bruising.
