This vintage black velvet purse was made in the 1950s. It is just as fashionable today though. The fold over locking top is heavy brass. The inside of the purse is exceptionally clean & has a black silk lining which does show some shattering in two place. There is a mirror pocket but no mirror . There is a small double fabric handle. The purse measures 8 inches tall by 7 inches wide. The handles add another 6 inches The label reads, Rayon, Garay. I see a few very small places on the outside where the rayon velvet is compressed. The purse probably rested against something hard while being stored. They are small & don't detract from the over all look. This is such an elegant understated purse.
