The two destinations are on the Coast Route - now state highway 1 - south of San Francisco. the sign is made to an approximately 1914 specification of the California State Auto Association, with no logo at the bottom - just the association name at the sides. later generations added a logo & changed to rounded corners for safety, in case an unexpected kinetic event caused the darn thing to come flying through the windshield. The sign is 18 1/2 inches on a side (approximately 29 inches across the long axis, & 23 up & down the short axis), & weighs 8 pounds, 12 ounces. The original of these signs exists in a private collection & is not going anywhere. This is a high quality, heavy steel remake that has the same high gloss & is indistinguishable from the original early 1910s porcelain sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection.
