for sale is a beautiful, highly sought-after vintage industrial cast iron drafting table by the Frederick Post Co. from the Journal of the Oughtred Society: "the Frederick Post Company was founded in Chicago in the latter part of the 1890s to manufacture & sell drafting, engineering & surveying supplies & equipment. Post was successful in this endeavor & became the third largest supplier of such equipment (after Keuffel & Esser & Dietzgen) in the United States." massive solid wood top measures 60 by 37.5 inches. sides are warped in fitted metal that prevent it from warping. top was sanded down to perfect imperfection, larger gaps filled with epoxy. due to age & wear, the top is thinner in the lower right-hand area, please see picture 2 for details. thickness, however, is uniform elsewhere, fit for use as a standing desk, dining table, or artist's desk. with the top positioned horizontally, overall height goes anywhere from about 34 to 46 inches. cast iron legs have been retrofitted with round rubber 3/4" pads to protect the floor, & can be taken off, if needed. this table has a lot of life & it shows: one of the rods has a bend to it, which doesn't affect performance. the box that hides the gears is missing a bolt. free shipping or delivery to continental US. when purchasing from elsewhere, please reach out for freight quote.
