This Fulton Merit Mark Broad or hewing hatchet has one side flat & the other angled for squaring up Lumber although I've seen the pattern referred to as a flooring hatchet. The cut is 4 1/4". Its forged carbon steel & hung on an old handle that may be original. Its 15 5/8" long, weighs 2.8lbs the head is 5 5/8". Fulton Merit Mark was a brand made for Sears, Roebuck & Co from the 1880's to 1927 before they had the Craftsman brand. It's a beauty.
