This table recalls the C.19th wooden trestle bridges built throughout the American West. Their delicate geometric patterns wound through a fresh new American landscape, connecting towns for the first time. These train bridges were beautifully engineered from local timber. They are uniquely American & enduringly beautiful. Sitting at this table is an exciting feeling - it reminds me of walking along old abandoned bridges, & exploring old structures. The table uses a modular design, repeating elements, with variations.. I used a combination of CNC machines & traditional woodworking tools in it's construction. The structure is lightweight, stable, & uses only 1 sheet of Birch plywood, & some solid Birch. The Glass is 3/8" ultra-clear low-iron, with touch-friendly rounded corners, & the legs are detachable with hex screws. Seats 6 people, at 36"x72". Optional "flatcar" server with wheels.
