Description
1930 Chester K Van Nortwick "Once in A Lovely Garden" calendar page for P Mehner Custom Tailoring. Although Van Nortwick is a lesser known artist from the "golden age of illustration", his work is comparable in quality & subject matter to that of Maxfield Parrish. Born in Rhode Island & raised in Denver Colorado, he went on to study at the Art Institute of Chicago & is primarily known for his wonderful & lively illustrations in children's books of this era. Van Nortwick's prints were almost exclusively published by Gerlach Barklow of Joliet, Illinois. Here, I have included a photo of the full ad continuing on the reverse, for Mehner Tailoring. The page is attached to an archival, acid free mat with linen tape, backed with archival foam core & secured & wrapped with the glass in museum tape. Perfectly preserved! C.k.
