Very pretty brass "Searching Goose" bookends by Jennings Brothers Mfg. of Connecticut. Vintage c.1930s hand cast figural waterfowl in flight have an antiqued lacquered brass finish to showcase the fine details. Each piece is embossed with initials & model number, J.B. 878, on the inside. Base has brown felt. Jennings Brothers Mfg. Co. operated from 1892-1953 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The company had an excellent reputation for quality hand-crafted home metal goods, including clocks in metal cases, candelabra, art metal & silver plated flatware. A line of finely crafted bookends was added in the 1920s - 1930s, before resources were refocused on the war effort. JB bookends are made of grey metal, with attractive & durable finishes. After the firm closed in 1953, casts were sold to Philadelphia Mfg. Co. That said, I am unable to discern the date of this particular set, although the details are outstanding & the finish looks great! A nice gift for outdoorsman or nature enthusiast!
