This is one of the loveliest 1940s vintage dresses that we have had in the shop! It's a "Blakely Fashions" novelty floral print frock in dark navy blue rayon crepe. The pattern has pink, purple, green & white flowers, & seed packets labeled "Pansy," "Crocus" & "Tulip" along with little blue & white watering cans & tiny garden trowels & rakes! The print is fabulous, & the construction of the dress is marvelous. It has extensive horizontal pleating details with a dropped waist effect achieved with godet panels of pleats extending in V shapes into the skirt. The godet pleating adorns the back waist & shirring accents the square neck. It has short sleeves & a mid calf length skirt. The dress closes with a 9" long Talon brand metal side zipper on the left. This dress is in good clean condition, we note that the hem allowance is just 1/2 inch & it is coming down in many places. It has been pinned in some spots & is loose in others, the entire hem should be redone or the skirt length shortened to your taste. We do not see any stains, holes or other wear. The label says "Original Blakely Fashions." Rayon crepe often shrinks when wet, please do NOT wash this garment. For care, we strongly recommend professional dry cleaning only. It fits like a Women's size Medium & measures: Chest - 38 inches, Waist - 30 inches, Hips - 39 inches, Shoulders - 16 inches, Sleeves - 6.5 inches, Length - 49 inches. Our model Amelia is 5'8" tall & her measurements are 34-27-39. She usually wears a Women's size Small or Medium.
