The San Damiano Cross is very special to those who love St. Francis & St. Clare of Assisi. This is the cross that spoke to St. Francis when he was in prayer in an old chapel on the outskirts of town, just after his conversion. As he prayed, he heard the voice of Jesus. Looking up, Jesus spoke, "Rebuild my Church." & so he began. First, rebuilding the falling down chapel that he was praying in. But as time passed, he learned that he was called to greater rebuilding, rebuilding the Church of God - the Catholic Church, by calling us all back to the heart of Jesus.
