Merrin Jewelers, known for fine craftsmanship, created the lovely brooch with two lovebirds sitting on a branch crafted in 18K yellow & white gold with pave diamonds on the heads & tails & red ruby eyes. Signed: Merril Italy 18K Weighs 10.60 grams Height 1 1/4inches width 2 1/2 inches Joseph Merrin came to New York from the Ukraine as a teen-ager in 1917 & soon became a jeweler's apprentice. in 1927 he opened the Merrin Jewelry Company at 530 Madison Avenue, which claimed to be the first store on Madison with air-conditioning. The company pioneered in the sale of jewelry by mail & in 1975 moved to its present location at 724 Fifth Avenue near 56th Street.
