Description

This rare 1928 Celluloid Pin Back Button, with metal replica ofthe Bremen plane, is attached to a red white & blue ribbon. Pictured on the celluloid button, are Capt. Hermann Koehl, Baron von Huenefeld & Col James Fitzmaurice with a picture of the Bremen airplane. All 3 of these men were the first non americans to receive the Distinguished Flying Crosses, presented by U.S. President Calvin Coolidge, for being the first to fly the Atlantic from east to west in the Junkers W33 Bremen in 1928. Pin back condition: is excellent, celluloid is 1 1/4" in diameter, original ribbon has less than expected wear, one front wheel gone & one front wheel is bent. We searched the internet & couldnt find a matching pin back that retained ribbon & a replica of the Bremen. This item was purchased from the closed Powers museum, in MO, & still retains the museums inventory number, a useful tool in establishing provenance.
