This is a Stunning trailing vine plant in purple & very unusual in your garden! You can see why it was Thomas Jefferson's favorite trellis plant. This forms beautiful purple pods along with the flowers that are filled with the black & white seeds. This plant goes all the way back to the 1700's & sold to American nurseryman by the early 19th century. Thomas Jefferson recorded planting these in 1812 becoming his favorite. They are fast growing & can grow 6 to 20 feet with twining stems. They do prefer a rich, well-drained soil & full sun with regular feeding. They are easy to grow with little maintenance. You will receive 20+ seeds or 50+ from my 2023 crop & ready to plant in spring. I find it much easier to put the seeds on moist paper towels a few weeks before I want to plant them to let them germinate as they are a very hard seed.
