Description

This Mayer China 13½" x 10¾" maroon on white "Fadeout" oval platter has seen moderate use. Produced on Mayer's "Naro Rim" blank it's in good+ condition with no chips, dings, heavy scratches, stains, or "bald spots." The glaze is smooth, shiny & slippery all-over, even on the upper & outer rim. There are utensil & stacking marks on the upper surface that you'd expect from a piece of utility ware that's worked for a while. It's a perfect vintage piece for everyday use. It's dated "159" for the first quarter of 1959. "Fadeout" was a patented hand-painted technique introduced by Mayer in the 1930s. Continuing into the 1960s, it's reminiscent of the techniques used by Susie Cooper & other Staffordshire potters. It looks great mixed-and-matched with airbrushed patterns of the Post-WWII era. We're diligent packers with decades of experience. This platter will be padded, snugly wrapped in layers of bubble wrap, then packed in a roomy, peanut-filled carton. Although we list USPS Priority as our carrier, we will use the service that's the most cost-effective for your address & refund any excess postage. Many times FedEx Ground is the best choice for long-distance packages that are heavy. When using FedEx, remember that it's less expensive to use a commercial street address, & they can't deliver to a P.O. box! As this platter is heavy & requires larger packaging, it will most likely ship most cost-effectively via FedEx. We're restaurant ware specialists listing hundreds of collector-quality pieces, including dozens of creamers. We have thousands of unlisted items, so please message us with any special requests or shipping questions. Thanks for visiting our shop!
