Description

Wood ash serves an excellent source of potassium & calcium carbonate, has minerals that are very important for plants health. Works as a liming agent to neutralize acidic soils. Best used either lightly scattered or by mixing it on your compost. Use with care to prevent burning the foliage (do not get it directly on growing plants). Wood ash raises the pH of your soil, please test the soil to ensure that it does not become overly alkaline. Used in organic hydroponic solutions. Used for potter as it acts as a flux, reducing the melting point of glaze. Used to make lye & or wood ash soap. Used in rawhides process. Used for chicken bath & to help keep the coop clean (helps reduce odors). Used for slug, snail & ant repellent How to Apply A soil test will determine relative needs. It is best to know your soil pH before applying your wood ash. However, a typical garden of 1,000 square feet with a pH of 6.5 would generally require no more than 20 pounds of wood ash (enough to fill a five-gallon bucket). Once applied, mix material into the top 2-4 inches, no additional wood ash should be needed that year. Similarly, you can apply a maintenance application of 10-15 lbs of ash to your 1,000 sq. ft. lawn each year. Outdoors Ash contains phosphorus, potassium, calcium, boron, & other elements that growing plants need to be healthy & strong. Ash is very alkaline & raises pH levels in garden soil; this provides a great place for seeds to grow. A pH level is the natural acidity that exists in all liquids. Solutions with a pH of less than 7 are acidic, & a solution with a pH higher than 7 are alkaline; an example being water with a pH of 7 is completely neutral. 100% Organic Eco-Friendly Natural Sifted/Filtered Hard Wood Ash Gardening & Plants Compost Fertilizer
