Description

Beatrix Potter's Goody Tiptoes squirrel porcelain figurine. This darling story book figurine was made in Bestwick, England by F. Warne & Company Figurine Height: 3.25" in excellent condition Goody Tiptoes was the wife of Timmy Tiptoes who is a squirrel believed to be a nut-thief by his fellows, & imprisoned by them in a hollow tree with the expectation that he will confess under confinement. Timmy is tended by Chippy Hackee, a friendly, mischievous chipmunk who has run away from his wife & is camping-out in the tree. Chippy urges the prisoner to eat the nuts stored in the tree, & Timmy does so but grows so fat he cannot escape the tree. He regains his freedom when a storm topples part of the tree. The tale contrasts the harmonious marriage of its title character with the less than harmonious marriage of the chipmunk. This is from the little book "The Tale of Timmy Tiptoes". Beatrix Potter spent a solitary childhood with long holidays in the country. She loved to sketch animals & later invented stories about them. in 1902, Potter published The Tale of Peter Rabbit, which launched her career as a children's author. More than 20 other books for young audiences soon followed. Potter's tales of Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-Duck, Benjamin Bunny & others have become children's classics.
