"Sister Thea Bowman" A print from the original painting by Marcy Hall. Each vivid print is on acid free, archival quality matte photo paper & measures 5"x10" & is mounted on a 11"x14" matte. The print is hand-signed & titled on the matte. Sister Thea Bowman converted to Catholicism at the age of nine & joined the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Admiration at age fifteen. Throughout her life, she was a teacher & a scholar, but some of her most impactful work in the Catholic Church revolved around its liturgical music & the development of The New Catholic Hymnal, the first hymnal of its kind directed at the Black community. The Dancing Monk series is a collaboration between Pennsylvania painter Marcy Hall of Rabbit Room Arts, & author Christine Valters Paintner of Abbey of the Arts, a virtual monastery based in Ireland.
