Description

Vintage crate that once contained bottles of Rock Spring beverages. Yellow printing against a green background - on the sides it says "Drink Rock Spring Beverages" & on the ends, it has "Shakopee, Minn". The inside long panels are also stamped "Drink Rock Spring Beverages" in red. There is also a red stamp on the inside that says ""Flour City Wooden Box Co. Mpls MN" (fun fact: Minneapolis was the largest flour producer in the world in the early 20th century!) Rock Spring is located in Shakopee, Minnesota, a city southwest of Minneapolis, named in the 1850s after a Dakota chief. The water from the spring was first bottled in 1872 & the company expanded beyond bottling spring water into other beverages, like Ginger Ale. Here's a great picture of an employee back in the 1920s: https://collection.mndigital.org/catalog/scott:184#/image/0 Great collectible & perfect for storage and/or display in your home! The crate measures 16 1/4 by 10 3/4 by 4 1/2 inches. It has wear from many years of use. The green & yellow paint are faded & some lettering has faded completely. There are scuffs, scratches, gouges & dings on all sides. The wood has dark stains in some spots. The metal edging is rusty in some areas & has rusted completely through on the top. Let me know if you have questions - thanks! Free pickup in Minneapolis, either in my front yard (near exit off highway 94) or near the Lowry Ave. bridge on the NE Minneapolis side - please contact me for details!
